Walking Tour of Old Town Klaipėda
Visit the charming coastal city of Klaipėda on this walking tour, learn about its architecture, history and folklore.
Lithuania with its unique history, language and culture is the biggest of the 3 Baltic states situated between neighbouring Latvia, Belarus, Russia and Poland. Historically this has proven to be a hazardous location and Klaipėda offers an intriguing insight into the complex history of the region and its inhabitants.
Your tour includes contemporary as well as historic sites, tales and not least plans for the future. Today Klaipėda is a tranquil coastal city but a sample of the forces that have affected the region include a fascinating pagan past with frequent migrations, Lithuania´s status as a once European superpower, the Lithuanian Grand Duchy, important trade routes, the Teutonic Knights, Soviet rule and Prussian plus German expansion.
