Panoramic St. Petersburg (Half day)
This panoramic half-day excursion is the perfect way to see the highlights of beautiful and vibrant St. Petersburg without a long, strenuous day or too much walking. Along with your local tour guide, you will be driven around the city to all the major points of interest, learning the rich history of the city, hearing stories about its people, with the opportunity for some unforgettable photo stops.
You will drive to the Spit of Vasilievsky Island and have a photo stop of the the breathtaking view over the grand Neva River, the Hermitage complex and Peter and Paul Fortress, the birthplace of the city. You will then drive by the Bronze Horseman and get a photo stop at St. Isaac’s Cathedral, which boasts one of the largest golden domes in the world. You’ll also have the chance to see the ornate interior of St. Nicholas Cathedral.
You will see St. Petersburg’s bustling city center and drive along Nevsky Prospekt, the major avenue of the city center, passing Kazan Cathedral and many other architectural highlights.
Later, at Palace Square, you will see the world famous Hermitage Museum (aka the Winter Palace) stretch before your eyes, standing as one of the largest and most important cultural museums in the world.
Your day will include an inside visit to what is perhaps the city’s most well-known landmark, the colorful and beautiful Church on the Spilled Blood, the sight of Czar Alexander II’s assassination. You will see the nearby Arts Square with a chance to buy souvenirs and, time permitting, to take a walk on Nevsky Prospekt.
The order you visit the sights might differ from above depending on local traffic conditions. The inside visit to Church on the Blood is not possible on Wednesdays so instead you will go inside Peter & Paul’s Fortress and Cathedral.
