The bus drive will take you comfortably to the Toompea hill (the Upper Town), where you will enjoy a beautiful panoramic view of the Lower Town, its towers and steeples, and picturesque red-tiled roofs. Your walking tour starts with a brief visit inside of the impressive Russian Orthodox Cathedral of Alexander Nevsky, built in the style of the churches of 17th century Moscow, and whose interior is full of mosaics.
Next you will stroll through the narrow cobble-stoned lanes to the Dome Church, also known as St. Mary's Cathedral. It is one of the oldest churches in Estonia, originally built 780 years ago. (Brief optional visit at 2 EUR per person)
You will descend from Toompea hill to visit the Town Hall Square, back in Lower Town, the central intersection of the town's network of cobble-stoned streets and alleys, and have a glimpse at the impressive Gothic Town Hall, completed in 1404. You will walk through the romantic Catherine’s Passage, which hosts many private artist’s studios. In the same street you will also see the collection of 14th and 15th century medieval tombstones, located next to the old Dominician monastery
You will see and learn about the fortifying walls and towers that surround the city and which in the 16th century made Tallinn’s defense system one of the best and most powerful in Northern Europe. The tour will end on Viru Street by the Viru Gates.
After the tour, you will have about 1 hour and 45 minutes of free time, after which we will provide you with a vehicle transfer back to the ship.
Notes: Please note that some inside visits may not be possible due to privately-booked special events.
Experience by vehicle a panoramic glimpse of Helsinki, "the White City of the North." You will begin by heading to the city center, passing the Uspenski Cathedral on the way, for a photo-stop at Senate Square, where one can see the elegant Lutheran Church, and the interesting mix of East, West, and simply Finnish influences pervading the city. You will drive down Mannerheim Street, the main boulevard of the city, passing the City Hall, Parliament House, and Finlandia Hall, the convention center designed by famous Finnish architect Alvar Aalto.
Continuing on you will see the Olympic Stadium, used for the 1952 Olympic games and the Opera House. You will stop at Sibelius Park for a unique photo opportunity of the monument of 527 steel pipes honoring the great Finnish composer Jean Sibelius, before continuing on to the famous Rock Church, a one-of-a-kind modern-day structure build entirely into bedrock and quarried stone.
Finally head to Central Station - the heart of Helsinki - where the tour will end. You will have the option to stay in the city for dinner or shopping or to return to the ship.
Notes: Entry to the Rock Church cannot be guaranteed due to occasional Religious services and other private events. The order of the tour may vary.

New for 2013: we have added two hours to this excursion to enhance your Stockholm experience! The guide and driver will meet you at the port to begin the first leg of the five-hour excursion, a 45 minute panoramic drive of Stockholm. Our first photo stop will be at Fjällgatan, from where you will enjoy a superb view of the Old Town. Back on the bus, we will continue the panoramic tour towards the Old Town. Driving along Lake Mälaren, you will enjoy the view of Stockholm’s biggest island, Södermalm, known for its bohemian character, recently made popular by Stieg Larsson’s fictitious characters from The Girl with Dragon Tattoo.
Later, we will pass by historic Riddarholmen (The Knights’ Island) with its impressive church, where most Swedish kings and queens are buried. Continuing to the modern part of the city, we will enjoy the view of the Riksdag (the Swedish Parliament). A few minutes later, we will see the Concert Hall, where the Nobel Prizes are awarded each year on the 10th of December. After this, we will go into the modern part of the city with all its bank offices and shopping malls, and take a look at Kulturhuset, Kungsträdgården and the Royal Dramatic Theatre.
We will then head into the scenic areas once again – to Stockholm's greenest island, Djurgården, where the celebrated Vasa Museum is situated with the world’s best-preserved 17th century warship, Vasa, which sank on its maiden voyage in 1628 and was salvaged in 1961. After a 45-minute visit to the Vasa Museum, we will make our way into the Old Town in 20 minutes. On the way, we will pass through the upper-market district of Östermalm, getting splendid views of the Grand Hotel, The Royal Opera House, the Swedish Parliament and the Royal Palace along the way.
Here will begin the walking* portion of the tour, giving you the chance to explore charming Old Town up close. You will begin at the Royal Palace, passing by the State Apartments, Royal Armory, Palace Museum and the Museum of Antiquities. As you make your way through the streets of the city, you will see the Storkyrka (Coronation Church), the Finnish Church, Järnpjke (at only 15 cm, the tiniest public sculpture!), Stortorget (the Old Town market square), the Nobel Museum, Tyska Kyrkan (German Church) and Stockholm’s narrowest alley. At the conclusion of the tour, there will be the chance to do some souvenir shopping. You may choose to either spend more time in Old Town at your leisure or return to the ship with the vehicle.
